A Dog's Letter To Santa

Since the moment we hung the stockings and trimmed the tree after Thanksgiving, Charlie has been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Santa. Here is what he asked for this Christmas:

Dear Santa,
I have been a very good dog this year. I barked at every single delivery man that came within a yard of our front door and I dutifully cleaned up every crumb that hit the floor. I would very much like the following gifts for Christmas:
1. A new squeaky toy
2. Milkbones.
3. A second squeaky toy to replace the first one after it breaks within the first five minutes.
4. More milkbones.
5. Full access to salty meat poles.
5. One more squeaky toy, just to be safe.
6. Milkbones.
7. Did I mention the milkbones?
Lots of love and licks,
Charlie

Merry Christmas!

And the stockings were hung...

Charlie clearly can't wait for Santa to get here...

What I'm Thankful For: Best Dog Toy Ever

Charlie was not too thankful for his Thanksgiving bath -- though everyone else was. The new squeaky toy he got after his bath, however, is the greatest thing to happen to him all day. He played non stop, ignored his duty as kitchen turkey monitor entirely and even tried to take it with him on his walk. Here's hoping you have some squeaky toys to be thankful for this year!

Is it Christmas yet?

Charlie can't wait for Santa to arrive. He's already working on his letter. And Santa's elves have been busy at work too.

New Toy = Happy Boy

Finally figured out the trick to having company without Charlie acting like a complete look-at-me/ pet-me/ I-want-to-lick-your-face spaz. Distraction in the form of a shiny new squeaky toy.

Feeling Squirrely

Charlie was on the prowl this morning. This squirrel nearly met his match, but somehow managed to scale the palm tree in time.

How We Celebrated National Dog Day

We celebrated National Dog Day doing what Charlie loves most: lounging.

New Do

Charlie has been itching for a haircut... literally. His allergies and scratching have been the worst this past week. Hoping his new cut will help lighten things up.

We took him for the second time to our new favorite grooming place City Dog! Gotta love the bandana he wears home.

Squirrels With The Plague

Squirrel Hunter better be wary, California squirrels have been found carrying the bubonic plague. Sounds like the inspiration for Roland Emmerich's next disaster flick.

Dress Up Party

When Charlie was a puppy we couldn't wait to dress him up for Halloween, but unfortunately he wasn't too happy about it. After a second failed attempt at dress up with a Santa hat for a Christmas card we decided to throw in the towel on the costumes.

With the little one taking a sudden interest in playing dress up, Charlie seems to have taken a shining to it too all of a sudden. Not once, but twice now, he's allowed her to dress him up and even pose for pictures. On both occasions, long after she had moved on to something else, I found him still rolling around gleefully in the discarded pink piles of feathers and ruffles. Maybe we'll have to break out a costume for this Halloween after all.

Does your pup like to dress up?

You Didn't Get Me Anything?!

Every time we come home from running errands, Charlie likes to rifle through the shopping bags for loot. He paws his way through, sniffing everything, until he's either lucky enough to come up with a new toy or mad that we went shopping and neglected to buy him anything. Today was not his lucky day...
